HBA offer overseas visitors health cover for people in Australia on working and non-working visas. A summary of the available cover is shown below. Health cover for overseas visitors on non-working visas
HBA offers a range of covers for overseas visitors to Australia on non-working visas. These include overseas visitors on a tourist visa, ETA visa, retirement visa, sponsored family visitor visa, bridging visa and other types of visa that do not entitle an overseas visitor to legally work in Australia.
Please note: If you are applying for an Australian visa, you may need to submit a letter confirming your health insurance details along with your visa application. Once HBA has received your enrolment details, they will send you a confirmation letter within 4 business days.
Top Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses in public and participating private hospitals, outpatient medical, GP visits and extras. Intermediate Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses in public and participating private hospitals (with an excess), outpatient medical, GP visits and extras. Advantage Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses in public and Network private hospitals, as well as outpatient medical and GP visits (annual limits apply). Standard Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses in a public hospital only, outpatient medical and GP visits.

Health cover for overseas visitors on working visas
HBA offers a range of covers for overseas visitors to Australia on working visas. These include overseas visitors on a working holiday visa, long stay working visa, medical practitioner visa, occupational visa, regional sponsored visa and other types of visa that entitle an overseas visitor to legally work in Australia.
Please note: If you are applying for a 457 Long Stay Working Visa, our Platinum, Gold, Gold with Excess, and Classic Visitors Covers all meet the minimum level of insurance required as set out by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
You may need to submit a letter confirming your health insurance details along with your visa application. Once HBA received your enrolment details, they will send you a confirmation letter within 4 business days.

Platinum Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses, outpatient medical and GP visits, plus extras cover. Gold Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses, outpatient medical and GP visits. Classic Visitors Cover provides cover for in-hospital medical and accommodation expenses in a public hospital, outpatient medical and GP visits.

If you are from a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement country** and working in Australia you may be required to pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS). However, you can take out Reciprocal Health Cover in addition to your overseas visitor cover to provide you with an exemption to the MLS. This will cost you less than the MLS itself.
